the party begins!

tonight we had a 'family' party for berrett and shannon (her birthday is tomorrow). joan decorated everything really cute with black everything on berrett's side of the table and floral everything on shannon's.

his cake turned out pretty cute. it had a natural colored base with lime green decoration. i started by just trimming the base and top edges, but i had a lot of frosting left, so i kept going.

nancy, i still want to see pictures of the cake stepi made for your sacramento fiesta!!

Love, love LOVE the cake! It is always fun deciding what to do with extra frosting. How do you make your lime green? I'm never quite satisfied with mine.

i do a ton of yellow, then the tiniest titch of blue. it looks like there's no way there's enough blue when i put it in, but when i blend it, it's just right. i'd say it's about 1 gloppy toothpick of yellow, to a thin smeared toothpick of blue (that's pretty helpful, right?)

it was delicious, too!

I thought that photo was just some random picture from the web! It's a great looking cake and a great photo. Who's hand is that?

Scott's birthday is this Friday and I was going to try the Princess cake but noooooo. Scott wants me to make that ganach cake that I made last year for his birthday. I have some friends that have their birthday coming up and I suggested the Princess cake again for a little party that we are doing but nooooo. One of my friends didn't get to try that crepe chocolate cake so I'll be making that...I do want to make that Princess cake one day, but really who am I kidding. I love making any cake!

it does work anywhere!

there's a little boy in adam's kindergarten who said 'oh, snap' about forgetting to wash his hands after going to the bathroom. it was hilarious. (this is the same boy who puts magnets in his underpants "for safe keeping", so it's pretty important that he washes his hands.)

kathy, your cakes sound delicious!!

You should seriously submit that photo to your account at iStockphoto.com. People will pay to use it in their websites and cake literature.
