I Don't Get It!

We have become electrically challenged in the last few days. On Friday, Sasha watched a video on the DVD/VCR and it worked just fine. When the video stopped, we went to re-wind it and then the whole thing stopped working. A dim "REW" was randomly blinking but everything else was dead. It has done nothing else since then. Ugg...

Then this afternoon Vaughn went to check on Simon who was napping on our bed. There was a terrible odor in the room and he called me in to see if I could tell what it was. It was a very bad smokey, electrical smell and it was awful! I thought it was the computer and I grabbed Simon to take him outside for some fresh air. Vaughn unplugged the computer and tried to see what was going on when he realized that the monitor was making strange noises and had funny lines on the screen. He smelled the monitor and that was where the smell was coming from. Somehow the thing was burning up. We had to air out the whole house and our room still smells. I hope I don't have to wash all the clothes in there. We got the monitor out of the room and I an very VERY grateful that 1. no fire started and 2. that we didn't lose our computer info, but the whole thing was very strange. How do two electronics die within two days of each other? It really sucks. Luckily, we still have V's laptop!!
