Eat These

I've been slightly worried about Simon lately because he is just a little too interested in his nostrils. We all laughed while stopping his attempt at putting popcorn in his nose tonight... but deep in my gut I knew. I knew like I knew with Sasha when she went through it. It is the beginning of the Putting-things-up-your-nose Stage.

Tonight while putting Simon to bed, his nose was a little runny. I wiped it and realized that something was possibly in there. He was all sweet and drowsy and I seriously wondered if I could wait til morning to find out. But safety won out. I felt the tip of his nostril and decided something was definitely there. Simon thought it was funny. I couldn't get it out, so I let him nurse some more while trying to figure out what to do. I really wanted him to go to sleep. If we left the bedroom we'd have to start the whole routine again! I finally held the unblocked nostril shut while he was still nursing. He blew out of the blocked nostril and slowly something brown started to appear. I was able to grasp it and discovered it was a nice plump raisin!! Success!! Gross success but success non the less! Don't you just love it when your mom genius kicks in?

By the way, is this in our genes or what? I think dad has a story. Tina has a story and now two of my kids have their stories. Do any of your kids have this gene?

Thankfully none of my kids have ever done this. Well, Max one time put a piece of cereal up his nose but he was so freaked out and uncomfortable he ran to me immediately and told me and that was the end of it.

I will have to see if Zoe has this trait. (So I guess the correct answer is none of my kids have ever done this YET)

Glad you used your mommy skills to solve this one. A less experienced mom would have ended up at the emergency room. Way to go!

That is hilarious! Did you eat the raisin? :) GROSS!!!

Sam has stuck a little green round seed-like berry in his nose about a year and a half ago. I freaked out a little when he said it wouldn't come out. We tried a few things that just pushed it in. Luckily, Sam was really calm. What worked? A FLAT toothpick and ta-da!

Sticking-stuff-up-the-nose stories are funny....most of the time. Glad yours had a good ending.

Thanks!
