Gingerbread Destruction!

Here's is a little preview of our gingerbread house date night last night. It was fun. We had soups for dinner, had a little white elephant gift exchange then did our houses. Our friends really loved the blowing up part! Thanks to Berrett's family, this tradition is growing and growing!

Kathy!! I just have to say all that running is making you very thin! Your face looks very fit. Lucky!

I also love your houses. The "peeps" trees are a great idea. How fun!

you do look great, kathy! so fit!!

do you build the houses and blow them up all in one sitting? the same night? we build them on one night (before christmas), let the frosting harden and the candies rot, then on new year's day we blow them up. it's awesome, isn't it???

Do you always use fire crackers? Any ideas if we don't have firecrackers? Mom has some un-used fireworks from 4th of July but would anything else work??

AWesome! I am making gingerbread (graham cracker) houses right now. I might get arrested if I blow them up though. Such a stupendous idea!

stepi, you could try hammers.

we've added gasoline and matches, too. i wouldn't recommed that.

GASOLINE!!!! What are you?!? CRAZY! That's when you get forced to get a hair cut because you fried your bangs off or something!

We have used fireworks and they are very fun, too. I think that Scott likes using firecrackers with an almost-completly closed off house because the air compression really blows it high and far. But fireworks make a good show while firecrackers are pretty quick.

Anyway...

I don't think Vaughn would approve of us showing our kids how to light things with gas and a match! Just a hunch!! He is pretty safety conscience ya know?

It is really fun blowing the houses up and I especially like that you aren't stuck with dusty old gingerbread houses that you children won't let you throw away. One year they were around until Valentine's day and so on that day we took them out and jumped on them to smash them all up. That was pretty fun!
